Dr. Mona Alrukhaimi is Professor of Medicine at Dubai Medical College, United Arab Emirates, Consultant physician & Nephrologist and Director of Alrukhaimi Polyclinic and Ex-Head of Medical and Renal Department, Dubai Hospital.
She is the current President of the Emirates Medical Association Nephrology Society, ISN Council (2011-2017), chair of ISN-GO Middle East Committee, and the leader of the KDIGO Implementation Task Force for the Middle East & African Regions. She is a Member of the Governing Board of the Arab Society of Nephrology & Renal Transplantation. She is the first female Nephrologist and Internist in UAE. Graduated from the University of Kuwait in 1983 and subsequently received her MRCP (UK) in 1989, FRCP Edinburg - 2001 and FRCP London - 2005
Dr. Alrukhaimi has actively organized World Kidney Day activities in the UAE since 2006 and the past five rounds of the ISN Update Course in Nephrology. She played an active role in the Declaration of Istanbul on Organ Trafficking and Transplant Tourism and continues to be an active member of its custodian group. She is a member of the Steering Committee for Women in Transplantation under TTS. She is regular Examiner at the Royal College of Physician of UK.
Dr. Tushar Vachharajani is a Professor and Chief of Nephrology Section at W. G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center, Salisbury, North Carolina. He obtained his nephrology training in India, UK and USA and is a nephrologist in the USA since 2001. He is an internationally recognized expert in the field of Interventional Nephrology. He currently contributes to ISN as- ISN Councilor, Interventional Nephrology Committee Chair;Deputy Chair, ISN Education Committee, ISN Ambassador; Member of the North American and South Asia Regional Boards and Co-Chair for the Interventional Nephrology Workshop at the World Congress of Nephrology in 2017. He is a member of the SONG-HD Vascular Access Expert Working Group.
He is actively involved with ASDIN, ASN, NKF and Fistula First Initiative. He is currently the Councilor (2nd term)of the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology (ASDIN), serves as a Chair of the International Committee. He has served as a Co-chair of the 9th Annual Meeting of ASDIN. He is aConsultant to the Fistula First Catheter Last Coalition Program since 2011. He has recently completed his 2nd term as a member of the ASN's Interventional Nephrology Advisory Group.
His leadership roles with the National Kidney Foundation include - Member of the 2016 NKF Vascular Access Guidelines Committee; Scientific Program Committee Member for Spring Clinical Meetings from 2015 - 2017 and Director of Vascular Access pre-course in 2017.
He received the Gerald Beathard Award for excellence in teaching and scholarly activities from ASDIN in 2015. He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Vascular Access (ASDIN Section) and has published over 100 scientific articles, book chapters and abstracts. He has been an invited speaker for WCN, NKF, ASN, ASDIN and ISHD meetings since 2005. He has helped organize vascular access symposiums in Asia, Middle East, Africa, Moscow, Mexico and Europe.
